When will Chicago Fire season 8 premiere on NBC? Though season 7 has just ended, One Chicago fans are already wanting to know when the next season is going to start. But unfortunately it isn’t one hundred percent clear yet.
During the season finale last month, NBC ran ads reminding viewers that Chicago Fire would be back next season, along with the other two One Chicago shows. But one big thing those promos were missing was an actual premiere date!
The network hasn’t announced a return date yet. Not in the commercials and not when they were revealing their primetime schedule for the 2019-2020 season at the recent upfronts. This isn’t an oversight; many networks reveal their schedule to advertisers in the spring and then will decide on actual dates later on.
However, it is possible to project Chicago Fire‘s premiere date based on information that exists from the previous seasons. Fans already know that the series is coming back on a Wednesday, as the advertisements were for the Chicago Wednesdays programming block that’s proven to be a huge hit for NBC.

The fall TV season always begins in September, and in the past, the show has come back in the middle to end of that month. The seventh season premiered Sept. 27, while season 6 started on Sept. 28. So what’s the last Wednesday in September this year? That would be Sept. 25, 2019 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
While this is an educated guess based on precedent, all signs point to a late September premiere. We’ll update this article once NBC confirms a season 8 premiere date, because no one wants to miss the start of the new season!
