The New York Undercover revival won’t be happening for now, as ABC has decided not to order Dick Wolf’s new version of the cult favorite FOX series.

There’s one Dick Wolf project not going forward next season: his New York Undercover revival, which ABC decided not to pick up to series.

Producers are trying to shop the project to another network, but so far there hasn’t been any news about a potential second home.

This new version of the FOX series featured original cast members Malik Yoba (Alphas) and Luna Lauren Velez (Dexter), reprising their characters from the 1994-1998 show about undercover cops in New York.

New cast members included Chicago Med actress Anna Enger Ritch, who’s been recurring on the One Chicago medical drama this season. She portrayed FBI agent Ingrid Lee, who recruited Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) for an undercover operation.

Lee eventually became Will’s neighbor when he moved into a new apartment, and then developed some romantic feelings toward him, though those weren’t addressed until May’s season finale.

In the ABC series, Enger Ritch would have played Detective Lisa Kim, an “ambitious climber” who was part of the next generation of undercover officers.

Had the network ordered New York Undercover, it would have been Wolf’s first series on ABC since the early 1990’s. However, he has been expanding his profile significantly over the last year.

Once working almost exclusively within the NBCUniversal family, he now has two series on CBS (the FBI franchise) and one on FOX (First Responders Live). There’s still a chance, especially with his name attached, that the pilot gets an opportunity on another network—but for now this is one reboot that’s not happening.
