Chicago Med’s Molly Bernard returns in Younger season 6

Before she was on Chicago Med, Molly Bernard was starring in Younger, and the TV Land series is returning for its sixth season tonight.

Bernard is known to One Chicago fans as Elsa Currie, the new medical student who began working at the hospital this season and immediately gained attention for her unsympathetic manner.

While the producers haven’t said if Elsa is coming back to the show next season, Bernard is back in her “day job” portraying Lauren Heller on Younger.

Lauren is a social media-obsessed, shoot-from-the-hip woman who’s part of Liza Miller’s (Sutton Foster) group of friends and coworkers. Last season, Lauren became the publicist for Liza’s friend Kelsey (Hilary Duff).

The sixth season picks up after Kelsey has received a massive new promotion, while Liza’s former boyfriend Josh (Nico Tortorella) faces potential fatherhood, and Liza has to come to terms with all of these things.

While it’s a world away from the fast-paced medical drama that One Chicago viewers are used to, it’s a fun midseason series created by Darren Star (Sex and the City) that may interest people who liked the Elsa character and want to see what else Molly Bernard can do.

She’s a regular on this show, so she’s going to have more screen time and more range than those episodes where Elsa would pop up, snark at someone, and disappear again. What she won’t do is have to sing while impersonating a Supreme Court Justice.
