Russian Doll, starring Chicago Fire’s Charlie Barnett, renewed by Netflix
Russian Doll, featuring former Chicago Fire star Charlie Barnett, will be getting a second season of dark comedy on Netflix.
Charlie Barnett may keep dying on Russian Doll, but the show lives on. Netflix has announced that the dark comedy has been renewed and we’ll be getting Russian Doll season 2.
Co-created by and starring Natasha Lyonne, the series focuses on Nadia, a software engineer who keeps reliving the night of her 36th birthday party—the night on which she dies. As she continues to go through the time loop, Nadia tries to figure out what’s causing her death and how to stop it.
Barnett, who previously starred on Chicago Fire as firefighter Peter Mills, co-stars as Alan. He meets Nadia in an elevator and it’s revealed that he, too, is in the same predicament.
The renewal continues what’s been an excellent year for the actor, as he’s got several projects in the works at Netflix. In addition to this show, he appears in the streaming service’s reboot of Tales of the City, and will recur in You season 2 when it moves to Netflix.

So he’s going to have three different series happening in short order, all of them different. While Charlie Barnett doesn’t seem like he’ll be returning to Chicago Fire anytime soon, he’s found a lot of success since being written out of the show.
If you haven’t seen the first season of Russian Doll yet, you can stream it all on Netflix now (and what better time with Chicago Fire on hiatus?). You can also watch a trailer that features Charlie Barnett by playing the video below.
