Surveillance, starring Chicago PD’s Sophia Bush, in limbo at CBS
Sophia Bush might still get her own TV series, as the Surveillance pilot reportedly still has a chance at CBS, despite not being picked up.
One Chicago fans have been eagerly awaiting news about Surveillance, the drama pilot that would give Sophia Bush her first series regular role since leaving Chicago PD.
The CBS upfront presentation came and went in May without a word, and the network released its primetime schedule this week and didn’t mention the show at all. So was the pilot not picked up to series?
Not so fast. According to multiple media reports, even though they didn’t order a first season of Surveillance for this fall, CBS is still interested in the project. Deadline reported in May that there’s a possibility of it getting the go-ahead as a midseason series.
The network isn’t saying anything one way or the other, but in this case, no news is good news. As long as CBS hasn’t said that Surveillance is dead, fans still have a chance to see it.
Surveillance stars Sophia Bush as the head of communications for the National Security Agency. But her character Maddy Yardley soon has to decide if she’ll protect the government’s secrets, or the personal ones she’s already hiding.
The cast also includes Dennis Haysbert (24), Allen Leech (Bohemian Rhapsody), and Catalina Sandina Moreno (The Bridge). The pilot is a reworking of an earlier concept; creators Matt Reeves and David C. White had previously pitched the idea to FOX last season.
While waiting to find out the fate of her show, One Chicago viewers were able to see Sophia Bush in this week’s episode of Jane the Virgin. Anyone who missed that episode can still find it through CW on Demand with your TV provider. But hopefully we’ll hear more about the Surveillance pilot soon!
