Chicago PD’s season premiere originally included a scene with Kim Burgess and Kevin Atwater. Watch the scene that never aired now.
One Chicago fans didn’t see everything that was filmed for Chicago PD season 6.
A deleted scene that was supposed to be part of the season premiere “New Normal” has now become available thanks to NBC‘s official YouTube account, giving viewers the chance to see what ended up not making the cut.
It’s particularly interesting because it features Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) and Kevin Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins) working together again—something Chicago PD viewers have been hoping to see more of.
In the missing scene, Burgess and Atwater are trying to track down some lethal drugs, which leads them to question a local teenager. What he tells them comes as a surprise, and will probably be a surprise to the audience, too.
It’s obvious that this footage was cut for time; it’s not necessary to understand what happens in the rest of the episode, and it’s not that long of a scene either. If the episode was running long, it could easily be cut without leaving a gap in the story.
But it’s good for fans to see more of Atwater and Burgess together, as well as how they choose to handle a delicate situation. Their behavior in this scene shows why both characters are favorites of so many One Chicago fans.

And especially since NBC isn’t releasing any deleted scenes with this season’s box set, it’s pretty cool that they’re making at least one of them available somehow.
