What happened
As one of Chicago Fire‘s supporting characters, Cruz doesn’t always get a ton of screen time, but he still found his way into a few big situations during the seventh season.
Most notably, the second One Chicago crossover that happened in February featured Cruz as the central character. He was recruited to go undercover at another firehouse by the Chicago PD team when they suspected a firefighter of wrongdoing. This didn’t go over well with Cruz, who almost got caught—and was deeply affected by how the case unfolded.
The situation did bring back his brother Leon (Jeff Lima), who came back to give Joe some advice about going undercover for Intelligence.
And on a happier note, Cruz got another girlfriend! He met Chloe (recurring guest star Kristen Gutoskie, Lethal Weapon) during the first One Chicago crossover, and the two of them were doing quite well until Chicago Fire had her involved in a multi-vehicle car accident. Chloe pulled through, though, and Cruz met her parents—who told him how good he was for their daughter.
