Dick Wolf’s production company Wolf Entertainment has hired David Brownfield as a new executive who will help oversee all of Wolf’s TV franchises.

Former CBS executive David Brownfield has joined Dick Wolf‘s Wolf Entertainment as Executive Vice President, Programming, and will be involved with all of the company’s programs, including the One Chicago and Law & Order franchises.

Brownfield, whose hiring was reported by Deadline, comes to the company from another studio, Entertainment One. He previously worked for The Mark Gordon Company before Entertainment One acquired that shingle.

While under the Mark Gordon Company banner, his projects included Designated Survivor, which former Law & Order: SVU showrunner Neal Baer took over this season.

He’s best known for the nine years he spent as the Senior Vice President of Current Programs at CBS. During that time, some of the programs the Eye had on the air included The Good Wife and the CSI and NCIS brands.

Per Deadline, Brownfield’s new role with Wolf Entertainment will have him working directly with Peter Jankowski, Arthur Forney and Anastasia Puglisi on all current programs, from One Chicago to SVU and the FBI franchise.

“I am thrilled to be joining one of the most successful companies in the business,” he said in the Deadline announcement. “Dick, Peter and their team are the gold standard of television production and [I am] looking forward to working with them on current and future projects.”

While TV viewers may not notice his impact in the same way as a new actor, writer or producer, the hiring of David Brownfield is still a major move to keep an eye on. Production executives are the ones making big decisions, and given the sheer size and impact of Dick Wolf’s brand, he’ll be involved in some major choices that could affect your favorite shows.
