Here’s when Colin Donnell is returning in Arrow season 8
Colin Donnell may have left Chicago Med, but he’s returning to Arrow to reprise his role as Tommy Merlyn. Here’s when his Arrow season 8 episode airs!
Last month, it was announced that Colin Donnell would be returning in the upcoming season of Arrow to play Tommy Merlyn—and now Stephen Amell has revealed just when you’ll be able to see Colin’s return!
Before starring as Dr. Connor Rhodes on Chicago Med, Colin was a series regular during the first season of Arrow. His character was Oliver Queen’s (Amell) best friend, the son of the season’s major villain Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman), and also briefly dated Oliver’s ex-girlfriend Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy).
But the season ended with Tommy dead, having sacrificed his life to rescue Laurel from an office building that was collapsing around her.
Despite that, Colin has remained a fan favorite and reprised his part several times since, showing up in flashbacks, as a hallucination in Oliver’s head, and even in alternate realities where Tommy is alive and a supervillain.
So it wasn’t a surprise that both fans and producers wanted him back for Arrow season 8, to give Tommy Merlyn one last appearance as the CW series winds down.
While details about how the character is being brought back this time are tightly under wraps, the date of his return isn’t a secret. Stephen Amell tweeted an image of one of Colin’s scenes Monday, with a caption that he was “watching the premiere.”
That means Colin Donnell returns to Arrow on Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. And since that’s a Tuesday, Chicago Med fans can check it out without missing any of the One Chicago series!
See the tweet below, which also gives audiences their first look at Colin’s latest and final cameo; if you haven’t started watching the show yet, you can currently get the first season on iTunes, DVD, Blu-Ray or Netflix.
