In this article, we’re profiling Emily Foster (Annie Ilonzeh).

Where we left off

Emily Foster was the new addition to the Chicago Fire cast last season, a new paramedic brought in to fill the vacancy left behind by Gabriela Dawson (Monica Raymund) moving to Puerto Rico. As expected, most of her plotlines in season 7 were about her acclimating to life at Firehouse 51 and trying to bond with her new co-workers.

Foster is openly bisexual, and her romantic life became a subplot when she had a one-night stand with a doctor who became obsessed with her. He was willing to ruin her career when she wouldn’t go out with him again, but the rest of the firehouse showed up en masse to back up their newest member.

Fans also learned about Foster’s backstory, which involved being kicked out of medical school and ending up as a paramedic instead. Near the end of the season, she ran into a former acquaintance who offered her a chance to get back into med school, but Emily turned her down having decided that she was happy serving at Firehouse 51.
