Where we left off
Kelly Severide had yet another emotional roller coaster during Chicago Fire season 7. While he was at the top of the game on the job, the writers once again decided to put him through the wringer in his personal life.
Early in the season, Severide struggled with his then ex-girlfriend Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) being hospitalized during the first One Chicago crossover. It clearly upset him, but not as much as when his father Benny Severide (recurring guest star Treat Williams) died of a stroke. His loss was made worse because Kelly wasn’t able to say goodbye; he got there 20 minutes after his dad had passed away.
At least this allowed for the return of Severide’s half-sister Katie Nolan (Brittany Curran) and his mom, who along with Stella, did their best to help him through the loss. After dealing with some ridiculous accusations of impropriety from a guy who’d hired him to repair his boat, Severide was able to catch an arsonist who had eluded Benny and make up with Stella. So is everything okay as we enter the new season?
