Chicago Med season 5 character preview: April Sexton

What will happen

Something else that happened in Chicago Med‘s last season was that the show put even more of an emphasis on the personal lives of the characters. Not only that, but it went for more dramatic personal stories than before, too.

So if it continues that trend, it’d stand to reason that April would be pregnant—and if that happens, she’ll end up having the baby, because it would just be cruel to put her through another miscarriage. The birth may not happen this season, but she’ll wind up as a mother and have to face some of the things that Emily went through in season 4. Of course, she’ll handle it much better, but it’d be a bit of role reversal.

Now that she’s back together with Choi, the two will also likely end up working on more cases together, since the writers tended to write their storylines together last season. We could see their renewed romance spilling into the workplace. It probably won’t take someone long to know that they’re once again together as a couple.

How will that news go over? If it’s our main characters, of course they’ll support it; if it’s someone like James Lanik (recurring guest star Nate Santana), it could become a problem. But whatever is next, expect to keep seeing more of April and a more confident April. Last season showed that she is going to be a much bigger player in the series going forward.
