The Almost Famous musical brings Chicago Med alum Colin Donnell back to the stage. Here’s how to get Almost Famous tickets and more about the show.

Almost Famous: The Musical, starring Chicago Med‘s own Colin Donnell, is finally here! The new production begins previews tonight at The Old Globe in San Diego, California, and we’ve got all the details so you can see it.

Before he played Dr. Connor Rhodes on Chicago Med, Colin was already doing amazing work in the theatre world. Now One Chicago fans have a chance to watch him on stage, not to mention enjoy an interesting new musical inspired by the film.

The Almost Famous musical follows the characters from the Golden Globe-winning film, with Colin Donnell playing Russell Hammond, the hotshot rock star whose life is about to take a turn. In 1973, Russell meets teenage reporter William Miller, and William ends up following Russell’s band on tour.

Previews for the musical start tonight, with the official opening night slated for Friday, Sept. 27. The production is currently scheduled to run through Oct. 27, meaning that you’ve got just about six weeks to catch it.

How do you buy Almost Famous tickets? Tickets are on sale now through The Old Globe website, but they’re selling quickly; they’ve been on sale for a while now, so don’t wait if you’re thinking of going.

Which you should—Colin Donnell is one of the most versatile One Chicago alums, and this is your opportunity to not only see him live, but see him in a completely different role. While it’s sad that he won’t be back on our TV screens this season, he’s definitely on to a great new adventure and he’s going to be excellent in the Russell Hammond part.

For those fans not in the San Diego area, right now there’s no word about the Almost Famous musical transferring to any other cities. That could obviously change in the future, and we’ll update you if it does, but at the moment the only confirmed dates are these shows. Get your Almost Famous tickets using the link above and check out something new and awesome this fall.
