Chicago Med cliffhanger preview: What’s next for Manstead?
What will happen next on Chicago Med? Look back at the Chicago Med cliffhanger and ahead to possible resolutions in the Chicago Med season 5 premiere.

What we’ve learned since
The Chicago Med producers have given away what happens to Natalie already: she lives, but will suffer a traumatic brain injury in the accident. We might still get a proposal, too, since her current squeeze Phillip Davis (recurring guest star Ian Harding) is sticking around.
As for the other two cliffhangers, April Sexton’s (Yaya DaCosta) possible pregnancy and Maggie Lockwood’s (Marlyne Barrett) cancer? No concrete details yet regarding either one.

So what happens next?
Expect the premiere to be about treating Natalie’s injuries, getting the TBI diagnosis, and a lot of angsting by/glaring between her ex-fiance Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) and Phillip. They’ll disagree over what’s best for Natalie, because they haven’t agreed on anything yet.
One Chicago fans know Natalie can’t spend the whole season in a hospital bed, so either there will be a time jump—similar to how one was employed after Dr. Daniel Charles was shot, to skip ahead to him being just fine—or perhaps the injury will turn out to be not quite as serious as it first looked. Either way, expect her to be up and back in the ED within a relatively short period, though that doesn’t mean she’ll be 100 percent.
Regarding April and Maggie, we expect one of those stories will be true and the other will be false, because the writers won’t want all of their cliffhangers to resolve the same way. It’s more likely that Maggie has cancer, because Chicago Med doesn’t need another baby. Choi’s nephew was all kinds of problematic last season, and as for Owen…will the writers do something with him now that his mom’s hospitalized?
