What will Chicago Med season 5 have in store for Natalie Manning? Look ahead as we preview Chicago Med’s new season for Torrey DeVitto’s character.

With Chicago Med season 5 coming in just a few weeks, it’s time once again to preview the new season for each character and look ahead to fresh episodes.

Where did your favorite character leave off when we saw them last? What are the big facts that fans need to remember before the season premiere? Where should they go next in season 5 for the best outcome? And is that where they’ll actually end up, or what direction is the show likely to take them in based on what we know so far?

Check out our detailed character preview, and let us know your thoughts on where you’d like to see each character go and why in the comments.

In this article, we’re profiling Dr. Natalie Manning (Torrey DeVitto).

Where we left off

Natalie Manning’s last Chicago Med season felt like it was divided into two very different parts. In the first half, she was largely relegated to being clueless about what her fiance Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) was doing. She got to think Will was acting weird, and plan their wedding, but never had the opportunity to put the pieces together.

Then at midseason, Will ended up leaving Natalie at the altar on their wedding day and going into witness protection, and it was like a switch flipped for her.

The Natalie we saw in the second half of season 4 was back to being headstrong. She pushed a returning Will to talk about what had happened to him, told him (understandably) he couldn’t be in her house with a gun, and then eventually broke up with him.

It didn’t take her long to cross a huge professional line and start dating Phillip Davis (recurring guest star Ian Harding), even though his wife had been her patient and died at the hospital. That led to Phillip intending to propose to Natalie, who was involved in a car wreck with Will and last seen bleeding in his arms.

If you’re keeping score, that means Natalie was in a helicopter crash and a car accident during the same season. Ouch.
