What will happen

Based on the information that’s come out so far, Chicago Med is keeping up the drama in Natalie’s life this season. Phillip is still here, which means more of Phillip and Natalie, and more of Will being jealous and suspicious of the other man. In other words, more of what One Chicago fans saw at the conclusion of last season.

We’re also not expecting to see more of Owen, either, despite the fact that he’s Natalie’s son and she’s his sole caretaker. Even though she’ll be injured and in need of help, the show has kind of let the parent part of her slide in favor of focusing on her love life.

Since the season premiere will undoubtedly pick up in the immediate aftermath of the cliffhanger, as most One Chicago finales do, we’ll see Natalie as a patient for a bit. But don’t be surprised if the writers employ another fast forward and get her back on her feet. Torrey DeVitto can’t spend the whole season in a hospital bed, and we’ve seen a lot of time jumps on this show in general.

Let’s just hope that Phillip doesn’t turn out to be an Ava-like crazy person, but there will be some kind of confrontation involving him (whether it’s him and Will, or him and Natalie) no later than the midseason finale. It’s obvious Chicago Med has something brewing with him, and that’s the kind of personal drama that this show has become excellent at.
