What’s happening in the Chicago Fire premiere? Find out about Sacred Ground with the Chicago Fire season 8, episode 1 synopsis and teaser.

The Chicago Fire season premiere has arrived, and it’s definitely going to be intense, according to NBC‘s official description of the episode.

The first episode of the new season is entitled “Sacred Ground,” and fans have been waiting all summer to see which members of Firehouse 51 get out of their latest fire. Understandably, the network doesn’t want to spoil if a character dies—so their synopsis is vague.

That’s because if they even mention any of the subplots in this episode, that would indirectly confirm that the character(s) involved escape the fire. However, NBC did drop two more clues about it in their recent “first look” video.

The premiere synopsis is appropriately dramatic, but it’s still going to leave fans guessing. It reveals that the fire is now “out of control,” which on this show could mean just about anything. The show could burn down an entire city block. Okay, it probably won’t go that far, but there’s definitely some cause for alarm among Chicago Fire viewers. The show is known for breaking hearts, after all.

Here’s how NBC officially describes the episode:

"In the season 8 premiere, the mattress factory fire spirals out of control. Truck and squad lay it on the line in hopes of getting the trapped victims out alive."

And while there is not a promo for this specific premiere, the network has dropped a video that’s promoting the entire new season:
