Chicago PD season 7 premiere synopsis: Doubt
What’s happening in the Chicago PD premiere? Find out about Doubt with the Chicago PD season 7, episode 1 synopsis and teaser.
The Chicago PD season premiere will resolve last season’s cliffhanger, according to NBC‘s official description of the episode.
The first installment of the new season is titled “Doubt,” which is appropriate considering that the Intelligence Unit has a lot of it when One Chicago fans see them again. They’re tasked with looking into the murder of Brian Kelton, and the prime suspect is in their own unit.
Naturally, they want to prove that Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) is innocent. But if he didn’t kill the former Superintendent, who did? And even if they know who it is, can they gather up enough to actually get that person arrested before Voight ends up taking the fall?
This episode will mostly deal with the plot threads left unanswered last season, so audiences may have to wait a bit to find out what the new challenges are this season. But it’s not like there isn’t enough drama here anyway, with a dead mayor-elect and the team down a member.

Here’s how NBC officially describes the episode:
"When Kelton is found murdered, Voight’s grudge against the mayor-elect puts him under suspicion. Upton and Halstead are eager to prove their sergeant’s innocence, but the more evidence they gather, the closer they come to doing the opposite. After making bail, Ruzek searches for a missing Antonio."
And while the network didn’t release a promo for this specific episode, they did recently provide a fresh video to hype up the entire new season:
