When we last caught up with the Intelligence Unit in the Chicago PD season 7 premiere, tensions rose between Sergeant Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) and Detective Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) as the team worked the murder investigation of Brian Kelton (John C. McGinley). This Wednesday, Chicago PD season 7 continues with an undercover sting that finds one member of the Intelligence Unit in deep with a drug syndicate!

Looking to settle back into its case of the week structure, the Intelligence Unit focuses its attention on bringing down a drug syndicate terrorizing the city. In efforts to bring the syndicate down from within, Officer Kevin Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins) will assist in running point on an undercover operation which could put him in a dangerous position.

The undercover operation will also make way for the introduction of Chicago PD newcomer Lisseth Chavez, who makes her debut as street smart cop Vanessa Rojas in the episode. Although it remains to be seen what the writers have in store for the character’s introduction, the first-look photos for the episode seem to suggest she’ll prove to be an asset to Atwater and company.
