Chicago Fire introduced us to new recruit Blake Gallo in A Real Shot in the Arm. Find out what happened in our Chicago Fire season 8, episode 2 recap.

This week’s Chicago Fire dealt with the impact of sudden loss and the aftermath of big decisions.

Wednesday’s installment “A Real Shot in the Arm,” spotlighted quite a few of the firefighters at 51 as they navigated personal and professional problems. The episode also served as the debut for new character, Blake Gallo (Alberto Rosende).

While Gallo’s daredevil ways may have caught the attention of Captain Matt Casey (Jesse Spencer) and Lieutenant Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney); they were slightly off-putting to Chief Wallace Boden (Eamonn Walker).

Blake Gallo wasn’t the only one that stirred things up on this week’s episode. Click through this slideshow to find out what happened in the latest Chicago Fire episode for each of your favorite characters, starting with:

Joe Cruz, Christopher Hermann and Otis’ share of Molly’s

Chicago Fire began with Joe Cruz (Joe Minoso) giving a house tour to potential renters. The couple seemed impressed by the space, but when they asked why he wanted people to move in, he gave the default “too much space for only me” answer. The camera cut over to a box of Brian “Otis” Zvonecek’s (Yuri Sardarov) things, which drove home the real reason behind Cruz’s apartment situation.

Otis’ death didn’t solely affect Cruz though, as fans saw Christopher Hermann (David Eigenberg) try to scrounge up a new buyer for Molly’s bar. He asked Cruz and Severide before going to Randall “Mouch” McHolland (Christian Stolte).

He initially declined Hermann’s offer and said that he was looking towards retirement, not to investing all his money in a bar. Hermann retorted, telling Mouch that he spent all his time and money at Molly’s anyhow – so what was the difference?

It was only after Mouch overheard Hermann say how hard it was for him after Gabby Dawson (Monica Raymund) left, and how he and Otis were splitting her share, that he decided to do the right thing.

Mouch went to Molly’s and gave Hermann a check, on one condition: his wife, Chicago PD‘s Trudy Platt (Amy Morton), would get some say too. Earlier in the episode, Trudy was seen saying how they could class up the place a little; and it all came together after Mouch revealed that she put in half the money to buy out Otis’ share.

While Hermann’s face wasn’t super excited about that possibility, it seemed like a small price to pay to keep Molly’s – and Otis’ memory – alive.
