Cop versus cop?!

Kevin utilized this information to see if he could trap “Nina” in with Darius, or get her to flip on him. He convinced her to do a sit-down with he and Jay regarding a heroin buy. They agreed at a time and place, and Intelligence set up their side of the sting operation.

But, when Jay and Kevin were mid-deal, two gunmen barged into their meeting! As it turned out, those gunmen were actually police, as was “Nina.”

“Nina” revealed her true identity of Vanessa Rojas, a just-picked academy cadet who had been watching this crew for three months. She teamed up with the 21st and volunteered to bug Darius’ office. When the wire was in place, Intelligence discovered who Darius Walker’s supplier was. Mateo Garcia was the man they wanted, so they found where Walker’s next buy was going to be to catch them in the act.

When they arrived at Ashburn for the meet, Mateo took off, which made Rojas and Atwater give chase. Mateo fired at them, but Rojas was quicker on the draw, and fired the shots that killed him.

Back at the district, Kevin interrogated Darius, asking him if he knew who killed Benji and Luis. Darius told him that Mateo killed his own people. Why? Mateo needed to make amends with him so the two could do business again.

His last words to Kevin were quite chilling, as he justified his ways by saying he “takes from the weak, and gives to the strong, so that they can get even stronger.” Darius claimed to be “good for Chicago” – and considering he told the truth about Mateo – he just might be right.

Apparently Kevin was convinced enough to talk to Voight, who then decided to use Darius Walker to his advantage. Remember that powerful connection he used to help Adam? Well, that connection was contingent on Darius working with Intelligence to help them catch his competition.

As usual, it was Voight’s way or bust, so Superintendent Crawford agreed to this deal, with one condition: all charges against Adam were dropped, and he was reinstated.

If anyone deserved to catch a break in this episode of Chicago PD, it was Adam Ruzek. Fans will be more than excited to see him back on the streets, bringing down bad guys once more.
