NBC has released the official photos for season 7, episode 3 of Chicago PD, and fans can look forward to seeing how newbie Vanessa Rojas (Lisseth Chavez) does on her first day at Intelligence.

The October 9 episode, entitled “Familia,” will feature the whole team trying to take down a ruthless drug lord. There’s one caveat: apparently the kingpin only works with women. Maybe that’s why Vanessa, along with Detective Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) and Officer Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) are more prominent in this batch of promotional photos.

Since Rojas has an undercover background, you would assume that her skills would be a great asset for this particular case. But, maybe it won’t be as smooth sailing as we thought, because according to NBC’s press release, Rojas struggles with the transition to Intelligence.

Maybe that explains Vanessa’s panicked voice in the promo as she runs towards a suspect, not to mention Hank Voight’s (Jason Beghe) disappointed face as he confronts her about it.  Whatever the case, we’re assuming it’s not the first impression Rojas was trying to make.

In addition to the new blood in Intelligence, “Familia” will also serve as the return of Officer Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger), after he was reinstated last episode. With all his police power back, hopefully his first case won’t be too rough for him. He’s jumped through so many hoops to get back into Intelligence, he deserves to be able to focus on the job.

While we don’t see a lot of action shots within this week’s photos, we do see the majority of Intelligence congregating at the 21st district. With such a tough case, maybe they have to reconvene to strategize? Or, maybe they end up using Hailey, Kim, and or Vanessa as bait to stop the drug kingpin in his tracks.
