Chicago Med continued the One Chicago crossover in Infection, Part 2. Find out what happened in our Chicago Med season 5, episode 4 recap.

This week’s Chicago Med served as the second hour of the latest One Chicago crossover, which dealt with the treatment of a city-wide bacterial epidemic.

“Infection, Part 2” actually begins with characters from Chicago PD, as Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) sends Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) to find one of suspect Stuart Anderson’s former co-workers. Veronica conveniently didn’t show up for work on the day of the fire. Unfortunately, that is because she’s clearly infected.

She collapses in front of Upton, bleeding all over her in the process. Now we know which main character drew the short straw in this crossover! When Upton comes back to Chicago Med, she’s thrown into quarantine thanks to a hangnail.

Centers for Disease Control expert Andrea Danover (played by Kathleen Munroe of CSI: NY fame) shows up and just happens to be an old classmate of Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss). Especially when Will is asked to be the liaison, you can guess where this may end up going should the writers decide to keep Andrea on after this crossover.

But first, the infection has spread to an entire apartment building. One Chicago burned an apartment building in the last three-show crossover; now it’s infecting one instead. The additional patients make Chicago Fire‘s Chief Wallace Boden (Eamonn Walker) realize that no one actually has any clue how the disease is transmitted, despite all the talking that’s been going on, and he tells Danover and Will to figure it out.

Danover orders the apartment building evacuated with the surviving residents quarantined. While Chicago Med prepares to take on extra patients, Goodwin sends Maggie Lockwood (Marlyne Barrett) home and Halstead apologizes to Upton for getting her tossed into a plastic room. Dr. Daniel Charles (Oliver Platt) is sent down to quarantine to deal with the token possibly crazy person, a woman named Sharlene Hughes who blames the CIA.
