A hospital riot

Dennis’s infection also leads Sharlene to incite a riot amongst the rest of the people in quarantine. When she escapes, everyone else makes a run for it, which just means more potential infection getting out. Well, so much for hospital security. Most of the escapees are rounded up during the commercial break, but of course crazy Sharlene is not one of them. Where’s the fun in that?

The mayor’s aide from Chicago Fire shows up at Chicago Med to chastize Goodwin. He also freaks out when she tells him to cancel the Oktoberfest plans and implies she’ll take the blame if this all ends badly. “Blame is the least of my concerns,” Goodwin tells him, while Natalie informs Upton that she’s in the clear and can leave quarantine. She offers to watch Amanda, who immediately displays symptoms less than 30 seconds after Upton walks away. Her leg is infected.

Upton promptly rushes back to the hospital to be with Amanda, while Burgess and Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) have identified the suspect’s truck and go to the place it was rented from. Conveniently it’s only been rented once, and there’s security camera footage. Jay is easily able to identify the culprit: he’s one of the doctors working with Will at Chicago Med!

Will catches him just as he’s finished destroying the team’s attempt at a cure, and the two get into a fight in the lab that ends with Will getting a massive head wound. As Jay rushes to save his brother (again) and arrest Dr. Seldon, everyone else deals with the civil unrest, including people fire-bombing the restaurant whose food truck our heroes were eating from at the tailgate. Some people really will believe anything they read on the Internet.
