5 ways Chicago PD season 7 must fix Burzek this time

4) No more one night stands
Despite the last episode’s ending, Burzek shouldn’t rebuild their relationship on one night stands. They both deserve better than that, and Chicago PD viewers ought to expect more from them as characters, given the aforementioned lessons they should have learned about themselves as well as their love lives by now.
While there’s no problem with having fun together (besides, it’s not a One Chicago show if there’s not a little bit of romance on-screen), after two one-night stands and a kiss, they really have done this enough. If Adam and Kim took that into consideration, it would allow for them to really connect on all levels, instead of just being physically compatible. Physical attractiveness can only take a relationship so far, and they’ve come too far to let their second chance fall short.
That’s not to say they can’t be together in that way; but they don’t have to let their relationship be based solely on sex. It’s a “been there, done that” situation for them: both together, and apart in their previous respective hookups. Both of their relationships last season started as flings; both of those ended badly.
If Burgess and Ruzek do set a boundary and decide to focus on building an actual relationship, that’s what’s going to make Burzek last more than an episode or a season. That’s what they need to do if they really care about each other, and what Chicago PD needs to do if it’s really serious about this pairing and not just continuing to tease the fans.
Not to mention, foregoing sex for a little while would let both Ruzek and Burgess remember how serious this second chance is. It’s taken them a long while to get back to being on good terms after their original breakup, let alone ready enough to take a chance on each other romantically again.
