The upcoming Chicago Med will be a good episode for Chexton fans, according to the photos that NBC has released for this week!
Wednesday’s installment is entitled “It’s All in the Family,” and it looks like One Chicago viewers will get at least a fair amount of focus on the psuedo-family that Dr. Ethan Choi (Brian Tee) and April Sexton (Yaya DaCosta) have created.
Most of the photos for this episode feature either Choi, April, both, or in one case April with a baby, presumably Choi’s nephew. Does that mean his sister Emily (recurring guest star Arden Cho) will be back? Or is April just going to be left holding the baby—literally—again? And will this play into Chexton’s recent talk about having kids of their own? (Probably. It’s hard to imagine how the show wouldn’t go that route.)
Plus, be ready for more of Dr. Daniel Charles (Oliver Platt), who’s getting an awful lot of screen time so far this season. That’s pretty impressive for a character who’s been floating around since his resident was unceremoniously written off the show last season. Charles has been getting storylines that seem even bigger than the ones he had when there were dedicated psychiatric cases each week, and it looks like he’s going to play a significant role in this episode, too.
What’s almost more interesting are the omissions. The hook for this episode is that it resolves the cliffhanger involving Dr. Natalie Manning (Torrey DeVitto). But Natalie isn’t in any of these photos! So this is the second week in a row where the official images NBC has put out, don’t really match up with what’s supposed to be the focus of the episode. Maybe the network wants us to think she is getting fired by not showing her?
More importantly, is that going to be a trend this season? Hopefully not, because it makes it harder for fans to know what to expect, and gets us pointed in all the wrong directions. But hey, if you’re enjoying April and Choi’s storyline, at least that looks like it’s working out pretty well!
