The next Chicago Med will bring us a new combination of doctors, according to NBC‘s official description of the episode and the promo that they’ve released for it.

Wednesday’s installment is called “Who Knows What Tomorrow Brings,” and it’s going to mix things up by pairing Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) with Dr. Daniel Charles (Oliver Platt). Fans don’t get to see Will and Charles working together very often, so kudos to the writers for moving outside their usual team-ups. Let’s just hope this doesn’t turn into Charles giving unsolicited relationship or mental health advice to Will after the big reveal last week.

The network is also teasing some kind of “new relationship,” and what could that mean? The writers have pretty much paired off all their main characters, unless Sharon Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson) really is getting back together with her ex-husband. Or Dr. Crockett Marcel (Dominic Rains) gets dragged into the romantic mess that is Chicago Med. But who could Marcel end up with that wouldn’t make him a third wheel somehow?

And more importantly, do we even need another relationship in a place that’s full of them? There’s always the chance this is a platonic friendship, but given the show’s emphasis on romance, it kind of seems unlikely.

"Dr. Charles and Dr. Halstead sink their teeth into a bloodthirsty case. Dr. Marcel and Maggie throw a traditional crawfish boil for the staff. A new relationship blossoms while another is left on rocky ground."
