Chicago Med season 5, episode 7 recap: Who Knows What Tomorrow Brings
Maggie
Maggie Lockwood (Marlyne Barrett) and Crockett are planning a crawfish boil for the staff, and the former declares that attendance is mandatory. That doesn’t go over well with a few people, as it shouldn’t.
Chicago Med then segues to Maggie checking in for more chemotherapy. After running into Caroline again, she strikes up a conversation with the patient next to her, Ben (guest star Charles Malik Whitfield, Empire). It’s immediately clear that the show will hook these two up, at least from the look on Caroline’s face.
Caroline continues her meddling ways by getting Ben to leave so she can sit down and nudge Maggie to ask him out. “This is not the place to meet somebody,” Maggie replies, but Caroline won’t take no for an answer. Are we really surprised, given how she acted with Goodwin’s love life?
But Ben takes care of the issue for her and asks Maggie to lunch. He walks her home, and she invites him to the hospital party. She even invites him in to help her make the jambalaya. But she shows up at the party without it, and you can infer what she was doing instead. Chicago Med is not wasting any time here.
Then there’s the awkwardness of Crockett trying to move in on April. Let’s see if either of them mention that next week.

Natalie
Natalie (Torrey DeVitto) is still giving Will the cold shoulder, and moving out of Phillip’s place back into her house (which reminds us that she ever moved in with him in the first place). She gets to work with med student Elsa Curry (Molly Bernard) on a girl and her mother who were hurt in a car accident.
After the girl briefly crashes, Chicago Med has our favorite neurologist Dr. Sam Abrams (Brennan Brown) break the bad news: she’s got bruises on her brain. And making matters worse, Elsa gives the situation her usual not-soft touch, which horrifies the overly compassionate Natalie.
The girl crashes again and this time it’s for good. She dies and Chicago Med gives us the scene of her mother sobbing and clinging to a very uncomfortable Elsa. Natalie checks on her afterward, and encourages her to let her feelings out instead of holding them in.
Will asks Elsa how she’s doing later, and the two strike up a conversation at the crawfish boil. Let’s just hope Chicago Med won’t be using her to create yet another Manstead love triangle. We’ll find out soon.
