Tomorrow’s episode of Chicago Med looks like it’s bringing more of the same, when you take a look at the promotional photos that NBC has made available from the episode.

Wednesday’s installment “Too Close to the Sun” appears to feature the same characters who have gotten most of the screen time so far in the fifth season. There are photos of Maggie Lockwood (Marlyne Barrett), some with her new love interest (returning guest star Charles Malik Whitfield) and one of her looking very concerned, which suggests her new fling is about to hit a speed bump.

There’s some of Dr. Daniel Charles (Oliver Platt). And there’s plenty that involve April Sexton (Yaya DaCosta), Dr. Ethan Choi (Brian Tee), or both. Those three characters have gotten many of the big cases in season 5, and they’re still going to be busy on Wednesday.

It also looks like April and Dr. Crockett Marcel (Dominic Rains) are working together again, as they are in some photos together, so will either of them bring up that Crockett tried to make a move on April at the end of the previous episode?

And what’s up with the last promotional photo in the batch, which shows that Bert Goodwin (guest star GregAlan Williams) is still in the picture? Are he and his ex-wife really going to make another go of things? And more importantly, do fans actually care if they do or not?

We’ve always advocated for more Goodwin, but whether or not she gets back together with her cheating ex is not the kind of thing that has a huge effect on the show. But it seems like that’s the direction the writers are still going to go down this week. If you’re not interested in the romantic issues around the hospital, this looks like an episode you won’t enjoy as much, based on how the photos prove that’s going to be at least half of tomorrow’s episode.

The one picture that will definitely pique One Chicago viewers’ interest is the one of Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer), because that means the Chicago PD detective is coming to his brother’s hospital for some reason. From the serious expression on his face, this is probably more about a possible crime being committed, but maybe we’ll get a decent Halstead brothers scene in there somewhere. That’s something else that hasn’t been seen enough recently.
