What’s happening in the Chicago PD midseason finale? Find out about Absolution with the Chicago PD season 7, episode 9 synopsis and teaser.

The Chicago PD midseason finale will be a Jay Halstead-centric hour, according to NBC‘s official description of the episode and the promo that they’ve released for it.

Wednesday’s episode is entitled “Absolution,” and the network isn’t giving away any details about the case that Intelligence works in the installment. Instead, all they’re mentioning is that Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer)’s personal life is tangled up in it. Apparently, he’s gotten himself a new girlfriend at some point during the first half of the season! And just like the last one, she’s getting him in a lot of trouble.

Hopefully we won’t have another Camila-esque situation on our hands. And hopefully there will be development for the other Intellligence Unit characters, too. But as good as it is to see more of Jay in the spotlight, this sounds like an episode that could turn out very, very badly for him. Maybe he needs to take a break from dating for a while? Or at least stop dating women that are anywhere in the vicinity of cases he works?

And how much do Chicago PD fans want to see about characters’ relationships going south? Last season, we had another breakup and somebody’s boyfriend being murdered, now we have a new problem for Halstead—it seems everyone’s romantic lives are constantly ending badly.

Here’s how NBC officially describes the episode:

"Halstead’s secret ongoing relationship with a woman connected to another case puts him in jeopardy."

And here’s the promo that’s been airing in advance of the episode:
