Chicago Fire welcomes back Gabriela Dawson tomorrow, and get your first look at Monica Raymund’s return in these Chicago Fire season 8 photos!

The Chicago Fire midseason finale is tomorrow, and many One Chicago fans are excited about the return of Gabriela Dawson.

Dawson hasn’t been seen on the show since the season 7 premiere, when she broke the news to now ex-husband Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer) that she was making her temporary assignment to Puerto Rico a permanent one.

(In reality, actress Monica Raymund‘s contract expired at the end of season 6 and she opted not to return for another season; she’s currently starring in the Starz drama Hightown, which is expected to premiere sometime in 2020.)

Wednesday’s episode “Best Friend Magic” sees Dawson come back to Firehouse 51, as she’s back in Chicago helping to further Puerto Rican relief efforts with a local fundraiser. Naturally, she’s got to see Casey, and based on the photos NBC has released from this episode, he’s incredibly happy to see her.

Does that mean the two of them have a shot at rekindling their relationship? That would seem a bit unlikely since they live in separate places now, but we’ll let fans decide based on these photos, which certainly prove there’s still a spark between them.
