The Magicians season 5 trailer features Chicago Fire alum Brittany Curran ahead of her SyFy show’s return in January. Watch the trailer now.

Brittany Curran is known to Chicago Fire fans as Katie Nolan, but viewers can see her starring in the new The Magicians trailer before the series makes its return on Jan. 15.

The actress recurred on Chicago Fire as Kelly Severide’s (Taylor Kinney) half-sister Katie, making a long-awaited return appearance last season for Benny Severide’s funeral. But she’s also been one of the stars of the SyFy series for several seasons now.

In the fifth season, the titular characters are dealing with an excess of magic that’s been released into the world and threatens to destroy it. They must save the world again, this time from the very thing they fought to save in season 4.

The series also stars Chicago PD alum Steve Maeve, who portrayed Erin Lindsay’s (Sophia Bush) informant and friend Nadia DeCotis. Also in the cast are Arjun Gupta, Summer Bishil, Rick Worthy, Jade Tailor, Hale Appleman and Trevor Einhorn.

If you’re a One Chicago viewer, the series may take you by surprise as it’s a completely different character for Brittany Curran. Obviously, a fantasy-adventure series is different from a firefighter drama, and her character Fen looks completely different from Katie as well, since she comes from a different world.

If you want to see more of her, and a wider range of her acting talent, this is the place to start.

Curran has been on the show since season 2, and a main cast member since season 3, so she’s a big part of the series. The only downside is it airs on Wednesdays, directly opposite Chicago PD, so you’ll have to use your DVR.
