Chicago Med season 5 midseason report: Crockett Marcel
What’s next
What we know is going to happen when Chicago Med season 5 returns is that Choi will find out about April kissing Marcel, and he’s going to be ticked off. There’s going to be a confrontation with Choi and Marcel; the show wouldn’t miss out on that drama. The question is how much? Will Choi cut Marcel some slack since it was April who initiated the kiss, or will he blame Marcel for moving in on his girlfriend?
And then the question becomes, how does the show resolve this triangle? It could take the easier route and have Chexton work things out, and Marcel step away from the situation. Or it could go full-on soap, watch Choi and April break up, and have April and Marcel have some torrid fling that makes the situation worse. Given how many dramatic twists the season has had, it’s really hard to say where this is going to go.
What needs to happen are stories about Marcel separate from his interactions with April or even his apparent mentorship of Noah. We’ve seen him in relation to other characters, but we have yet to see him individually, or how anyone affects him. There are also characters he hasn’t spent a lot of screen time with. We need to see him work with different people, and we need to see him for who he is as a person, not just as a doctor or April’s crush.
How about what Chicago Med did with Connor (and has done with many other characters), where someone they know comes into the ED? Or how about just Crockett having a hard time adjusting to working on the day shift with different people and not knowing where he fits in? That would be perfectly understandable, and understanding is something we need right now.
