This episode certainly won’t be spreading any holiday cheer. “A Killer App” focuses on a man who confesses to multiple murders, but has a truly bizarre motive. He’s a rideshare driver and claims that the rideshare company’s app turned him into a killer. Obviously that’s not the case, but how will police handle this suspect who’s clearly disturbed?

After all, he’s not denying he committed the crimes; he’s just not taking responsibiity for them. It does change the playing field a bit, not to mention questions of competency.

Also of note is that this is the first episode this season to deal with a mass shooting. As with all of Dick Wolf’s Oxygen shows, they cover a wide variety of crimes as long as they fit into the show’s overall theme (in this case crimes that were solved via confession). So if you’re squeamish at all, you may want to consider skipping this one.
