From bad guys gone good to babies, Chicago PD has had some unbelievable moments. Here are Chicago PD season 7’s most WTF moments.

Chicago PD season 7 has unearthed a number of surprises so far. But which have been the most surprising or unbelievable?

This season has involved the departure of another main character off-screen, the addition of a new recruit, and a possible plus-one in the Intelligence Unit family. Plus, that massive cliffhanger that has fans biting their nails. But some moments in these first nine episodes have been more head-scratching than others.

And every show has those moments that throw fans for a loop—either because they don’t seem to make sense or we don’t see them coming.

Click through this slideshow as we count down the three most shocking or unbelievable things in the current Chicago PD season, starting with:

3. Darius Walker, police informant

What happened: After getting Darius Walker (recurring guest star Michael Beach) in the frame, rather than arresting him, Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) cuts a deal with the new interim boss to have Darius work as a police informant instead. Except both times we’ve seen Darius since, he’s held back information from Voight and generally been a pain in his behind.

Why it’s a WTF moment: Because we’re still trying to figure out how this is supposed to work. It was strange enough to hear Voight advocating for Darius to new Superintendent Jason Crawford (recurring guest star Paul Adelstein); usually when someone is as bad as Darius was purported to be, Voight is all about taking them down. Yet here he was trying to cut the guy a sweetheart deal.

And at least from the audience’s point of view, it’s kind of backfired in his face. Each time Voight has leaned on Darius, the other man has withheld crucial information, more concerned with his own business interests. And in “Informant” audiences find out that Darius almost certainly had another CI murdered.

The thing is, you can’t entirely blame Darius here, because any person with common sense would see this coming. Darius Walker is a bad guy, cooperating with the police solely to keep himself out of prison; he’s not going to magically turn over a new leaf. He’s certainly not going to do anything that will hurt him. Certainly somebody with as much experience, and cynicism, as Voight has ought to know that too.

So this whole thing just seems like a bizarre arrangement that’s not gone at all like he thought, but exactly like it should.
