When Chicago PD season 7 returns, Kevin Atwater fans will get something they’ve been waiting for, but it comes with a catch. SPOILER ALERT!

As if you needed another reason to get excited for the Chicago PD midseason premiere, there’s a big development in the episode for one of the show’s most beloved characters.

SPOILER ALERT: This article contains spoilers for the next Chicago PD season 7 episode.

NBC has officially released some details regarding the Chicago PD midseason premiere, which is titled “Mercy.”

More from Chicago PD

In the episode, Kevin Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins) will finally be reunited with his younger brother Jordan—a development One Chicago fans have been asking for since Atwater decided to send his brother and sister out of state to protect them during seasn 5.

However, don’t get too happy as the writers have thrown a wrench into the family reunion, too.

According to the network’s official description, Jordan Atwater may or may not be involved in the case that the Intelligence Unit investigates in the next episode. So will he be driven away in cuffs, like Atwater’s last girlfriend Laila (Milauna Jemai Jackson)?

Or will he finally be reunited with his older brother for good? Or will Jordan be sent back to Texas once the case is closed?

There are so many questions swirling around this news. It’s good that Chicago PD has finally done something with Atwater’s family; the last time we saw them was Oct. 2017, so it’ll have been just over two years since his siblings have been on screen!

But at the same time, if the show just uses Jordan for dramatic effect and throws him away—like we’ve seen with other characters’ family members who have either been killed off or who become victims—that’ll be deeply disappointing. Atwater deserves more screen time, and so do his sister and brother, and not just to be collateral damage.
