Monica Raymund, who portrayed Gabriela Dawson on NBC’s Chicago Fire for six seasons, said that she’s always open to return to the series.

Monica Raymund, who portrayed fan-favorite paramedic turned firefighter Gabby Dawson on NBC’s hit drama Chicago Fire for six seasons, has given fans hope for more Dawson in seasons to come.  As first reported by Deadline,  Raymond revealed that she’s always open for her character to return while appearing to discuss her new series during an appearance at the 2020 TCAs, teasing “The door is always open for Dawson to come back.”

Raymond most recently reprised her role as Dawson with a guest appearance in the show’s season 8 fall finale back in November. In the episode, “Best Friend Magic,” Gabby actually had a night together with Matt (Jesse Spencer), despite their marriage ending in the season 7 premiere. This got fans hopeful for a reunion between the popular couple, and with good reason. Spencer and Raymund’s friendship behind the scenes made it very easy for fans to ship the couple on Chicago Fire.

For fans hoping to get their fix of Raymund in the meantime, fans can get excited for her new show, Hightown, where she plays Jackie Quinones, a character that, Raymund said couldn’t be more different than Gabby Dawson.

On Hightown, Jackie is navigating the road to sobriety, all the while her Cape Cod town is blanketed by the opioid crisis. When a body washes up on the beach and Jackie is the one to discover it, her path towards sobriety is severed when she decides to solve the case.

Sounds a little bit like the Gabby Dawson fans know and love, as Raymund’s Chicago Fire character never backed down from a challenge, even when things became difficult in her personal life. If you recall, her biggest personal moment was her relationship with Captain Matt Casey, which began in season 2 of the NBC series.

While Monica said that “you never know” if Gabby could pop up in the One Chicago universe again, she also noted her excitement surrounding her new show for the Starz Network. She told Deadline that, “It’s fun to give different points of view as a woman.”

We can’t wait to see her shine in Hightown, which recently dropped its trailer. While no release date has been announced as of yet; with all the buzz, safe to say we’ll see Raymund back on TV very soon.
