Chicago Fire pitted Firehouse 51 against Firehouse 20 this week. Find out what happened in our Chicago Fire season 8, episode 11 recap.

This week’s episode of Chicago Fire tested the limits of two houses: Firehouse 51 and Firehouse 20. While the captains butted heads over command, the women of 51 worried that someone in 20 was gunning for revenge against them.

Captain Matt Casey (Jesse Spencer) tried to maintain a sense of leadership, but Chief Wallace Boden (Eamonn Walker) opted to leave Firehouse 20’s Captain Delaney in charge. Meanwhile, rookie Blake Gallo (Alberto Rosende) tried to define his relationship with Firehouse 20’s paramedic, Violet.

Crossing lines

The episode started off with Blake, as he woke up to Violet leaving his place. She told him that once was fun, but two was….”fun,” Blake chimed in. Violet said it needed to stop and no one needed to know about it either.

When Blake arrived back at Firehouse 51 to begin his shift, he talked to Emily Foster (Annie Ilonzeh), Joe Cruz (Joe Minoso), and Randall “Mouch” McHolland (Christian Stolte) about the marathon he was training for. As the four of them conversed, Casey, along with Lieutenants Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) and Christopher Hermann (David Eigenberg) met with Boden about this whole boundary situation.

A moment later, the firehouse was called to a car accident, where the engine had exploded into a fire. Firehouse 20 arrived on the scene, and when Captain Delaney said he would take it from there, Casey told him no.

When the fire wouldn’t die down, they realized the car was electric, so they needed to get the water onto the batteries. They successfully freed the passenger, but the driver was dead on impact.

When they came back from the call, Mouch discovered that there were bed bugs in the couch, not fleas, like he had accused their dog Tuesday of having earlier in the episode. Since the firehouse had to be fumigated, headquarters assigned Firehouse 51 to bunk with Firehouse 20. Which was the same house Blake’s one night stand Violet was working. Awkward.

Before they knew it, Blake and Violet ran into each other again, this time in the kitchen. They talked, and Blake reminded her yet again of how much fun they had. Had was the key word in Violet’s mind, as she told him it shouldn’t happen again. Apparently Blake was too hard to resist, as the two hooked up in the gym later on in the episode. So much for their one night – or rather, two night – stand.

Meanwhile, Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) checked on the passenger from the accident, and relayed the good news to Casey. The girl was going to make a full recovery. She also told him that no one at 51 really followed the rule of letting it go once the patient is dropped off at Med – especially him. So, she knew it would mean a lot for him to know that the girl was going to be alright.
