Tensions flare on the job and off

Back at Firehouse 20, Casey tried everything he could to be respectful of Delaney and his team, but 20’s captain was real good at pushing buttons. When he asked Severide and Casey to move their trucks, Casey refused. He thought that they would just use it as a way to arrive first on scene, as whomever did had control of the call.

Even though Delaney denied it, Casey wouldn’t budge, and they got in each other’s faces. Boden had to come break it up, and told everyone that they would all follow standard operating procedures from here on out. Captain Delaney agreed, however, that didn’t stop him from saying that Boden played favorites when it came to his men at 51. Boden defended Casey and Severide, but the look of doubt on his face after he left Delaney said otherwise.

Boden took Delaney’s words to heart, as he announced that Firehouse 20 would run the show as it was their house. He reminded Casey that they were a guest in 20’s house, so they should all start acting like it. Casey kept his composure and behaved accordingly, which was great, as the houses were soon called to another incident.

Since Delaney was in charge, he gave the orders. Both houses tag teamed the fire, with Squad 3 and Truck 81 on the inside. Delaney, along with a few of his men, followed suit. As they canvassed the area, Delaney pulled a women out from the fire. Casey and Gallo continued their search, as did Hermann and Darren Ritter (Daniel Kyri).

Hermann and Ritter were “starting to roast” in there, as the flames had closed in on them. At the same time, Casey had lost sight of Gallo, and Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) saved a mother. Matt managed to find Blake, who had found the young boy Kidd’s mother was looking for. They were about ready to leave when everything was set ablaze.

Blake and Matt were okay, but Captain Delaney went down. When the two men of 51 went to help him, they realized that they, along with one of Delaney’s men, were trapped. Good thing Severide and Cruz went to work on figuring a way out. They broke down a wall, and managed to get through to the men on the other side.

Everyone made it out, and once they were all back at their house, the captains actually seemed to be getting along. Was a truce made? It certainly seemed like it. And not a moment too soon, as Boden had an announcement to make.
