What should fans look for in this week’s episode of Chicago Fire? Get ready for “A Chicago Welcome” with our Chicago Fire season 8, episode 13 preview.

Tonight’s episode of Chicago Fire brings Firehouse 51 closer together as they deal with both personal and professional issues.

“A Chicago Welcome” sees a new truck arrive at 51, which brings both joy and frustration amongst its inhabitants. Meanwhile, Chief Wallace Boden (Eamonn Walker) and Lieutenant Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) deal with an enemy from their past.

They’re not the only ones to have something from their past come barreling through their current lives, though, as Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) gets some family news that throws her for a loop.

Judging by the promotional photos, it appears whatever family news Sylvie gets sends her, along with Captain Matt Casey (Jesse Spencer) to a somewhat melancholy gathering. Spencer actually spoke to US Weekly regarding an upcoming episode that deals with Brett’s biological mother, so perhaps that’s the unexpected family news Sylvie receives.

While super-fans of the show already know about Brett’s adoptive past, for those that don’t: it was brought up during a discussion she was having with then-paramedic partner Gabriela Dawson (Monica Raymund). But it hasn’t been mentioned since, so it will be interesting to see how the news affects Sylvie.

As for that “peace treaty” Severide and Boden have to handle? Hopefully things turn out all right with it, as they have a lot on the line. Just a couple of episodes ago, Boden revealed the idea of a Cancer Support Network, after a colleague of his was diagnosed with the terrible disease.

Well, if he wants to keep that initiative up and running, he shouldn’t ruffle too many feathers along the way. If the person he has to make nice with is a higher up, it’s a small price to pay to make a big impact in the way of firefighter’s health.

We’ll have to wait and see how things shake out when “A Chicago Welcome” airs tonight on NBC.
