What’s happening in this week’s Chicago Fire episode? Find out about Shut It Down with the Chicago Fire season 8, episode 14 synopsis and teaser.

The next Chicago Fire episode features another mystery for Firehouse 51 to solve, according to NBC‘s official description of the episode and the promo that they’ve released for it.

Wednesday’s installment is entitled “Shut It Down,” and the main story involves gas leaks that are springing up all over Chicago. As the firefighters and paramedics respond to these various calls, it not only stretches the firehouse’s manpower and resources to the limit, but they begin to wonder what’s actually happening.

Are these various emergency calls connected? (Probably, or we wouldn’t have an episode.) Is there some kind of malicious intent behind them? Well, we’ve got the right group of people for that. Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) practically has a second career investigating weird cases, and just spent a stint with the Office of Fire Investigation. And he’s not the only character who’s shown that they have some good instincts.

In the subplots, it sounds like Mouch (Christian Stolte) is about to get himself into more trouble after running afoul of Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg) last week. So what could it be this time? We’ve gotten more Mouch since Chicago Fire season 8 returned from its winter hiatus, and that’s a very good thing. Let’s just hope that extra screen time doesn’t get him in over his head!

Here’s how NBC officially describes the episode:

"A series of mysterious gas leaks has members of Firehouse 51 puzzled and spread thin. Brett’s conflicted when her birth mother gets serious about tracking her down. Severide misunderstands his role as Cruz’s best man. Mouch bites off more than he can chew."
