The next Chicago PD is picking up after the season’s most powerful episode, but NBC isn’t giving much away in their official description or the promo that they’ve released for this week.

Wednesday’s episode is called “Center Mass,” and fans expecting that the show would continue from the shocking end of last week’s episode will be disappointed. The network’s synopsis has no mention of Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) at all, and the plot appears to be just another case of the week.

In fact, only one character is mentioned by name—our newest character Vanessa Rojas (Lisseth Chavez). That gives the impression that this is going to be a Rojas-centric Chicago PD installment, so we’ll have to see if that’s the case, or if the network just didn’t want to give away anything on the other characters for some reason.

The one talking point is that the episode will have some story about mental health, which is an important issue in the United States. Are the writers going to try and feature the issue, or is that just going to be a plot point in a crime story? That would sound like a better topic for Chicago Med, but Rick Eid and company could use it to show a different aspect of policing, too.

Hopefully, this episode doesn’t forget the major trauma that Burgess (and One Chicago fans) are still recovering from in favor of going back to “business as usual.” But it could also be a timely plot too.
