Chicago PD season 7, episode 14 recap: Center Mass

The search for Sammy
Voight instructed Atwater and Rojas to start their manhunt by finding Sammy’s case worker, who told them Samuel “Sammy” Logan was a paranoid schizophrenic who had dropped out of law school. While he refused to take his medications, she didn’t think that he would kill someone.
Upton informed the duo that Sammy had been spotted at a used bookstore, and they quickly made their way over. But in true Chicago PD fashion, the guy wasn’t going to go quietly. When Kevin and Vanessa tried to talk to him, Sammy took off and boarded a bus, and pulled out a knife when they climbed aboard after him. Luckily, no one was hurt, because Vanessa was able to convince Sammy to drop the weapon.
Back at the 21st, Voight watched from the outside while Hailey and Vanessa questioned Sammy. Vanessa played into Sammy’s theories, alluding to Hailey having a cell phone in her pocket that was recording. She told Hailey to take five, leaving her alone with Sammy.
She asked him when the last time he was at the house. Sammy said he didn’t kill Roberto, but he was there when he was murdered. Roberto was getting high and Sammy was reading when he heard someone he referred to as “the S.O. Five,” meaning “Special Ops, Level Five.” The man said he wanted to take Roberto, and was soon stabbing him to death.
After Sammy gave Rojas a description of the mystery man, Halstead found security footage of that matched the description. He was trying to cash a check in Roberto’s name.
That man was quickly identified as Eduardo Salzar, who’d been on the run since 2015 after killing a police officer and a store clerk. He was wanted by the FBI, and also happened to bear a striking resemblance to Roberto Pena, leading Intelligence to formulate a new theory: that Eduardo had killed Roberto to take his identity and get a fresh start.
Back in the interrogation room, Sammy worried that Eduardo would find him, as he thought Roberto had seen him when he ran out of the house. Vanessa assured Sammy that while he needed to be taken to a mental hospital, she would personally check in on him to guarantee his safety.
Chicago PD had Rojas continue to open up to Atwater after the interview. She explained that she had previously been squatting in a house with a woman who was mentally ill. Kevin listened, and praised her for being able to work so well with Sammy.
Their conversation was interrupted by Hailey, who got word that Salazar was spotted jumping into a car registered to Liza Radley, who they assumed was his girlfriend. Intelligence went directly to her apartment and arrested her, finding her phone and a text from Eduardo that confirmed their theory. He was in the process of getting identity documents in Roberto’s name and planning to flee to Mexico.
Vanessa went to see Sammy at Memorial to figure out where Eduardo could be. Sammy told her that Eduardo took him and Roberto to a coffeehouse called The Daily Groundup in Pilsen. Now the Intelligence Unit had a possible location, but would Roberto actually be there?
