Did you see Chicago PD star LaRoyce Hawkins in the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game 2020? If you missed it, we’ve got the video highlights.

Friday was more than Valentine’s Day for Chicago PD actor LaRoyce Hawkins. He got to play in this year’s NBA Celebrity Game!

Hawkins, who portrays Officer Kevin Atwater on Chicago PD, was announced as one of the NBA Celebrity Game 2020 players earlier this week. With All-Star Weekend taking place in Chicago this year, it made perfect sense to have him there—he’s a Chicago native.

He played on the team coached by ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith, and unfortunately, their day at the office didn’t work out as easily as Kevin Atwater chasing down bad guys.

Smith’s team (which also included Chance the Rapper and actor-comedian Lil Rel Howery, and Food Network chef Guy Fieri as their assistant coach) was behind for most of the game. Stephen A. Smith even got the first technical foul in NBA Celebrity Game history.

Ultimately, they lost to the team coached by Pardon the Interruption co-host Michael Wilbon by a score of 60-45. Rapper, actor and activist Common was named MVP for Team Wilbon.

One Chicago fans who tuned in to watch the game might have been disappointed. LaRoyce Hawkins got some playing time, but not a lot, and viewers then had to find him on screen as ESPN’s cameras cut between the celebrities on the court and interviewing the ones in the audience. But he was clearly enjoying himself, and it was enjoying to see him in a different element.

Unfortunately, ESPN has no plans to re-air the NBA Celebrity Game 2020 if you didn’t see it Friday night. But you can click the video below to watch LaRoyce Hawkins being introduced to the WinTrust Arena crowd (his intro starts at about 0:40). While it would have been appreciated if he had more playing time, this is still an awesome accomplishment for one of One Chicago’s most beloved actors.
