Dick Wolf’s Cold Justice and Criminal Confessions to cross over in March
Dick Wolf is about to have his first true crime crossover, as his reality series Criminal Confessions and Cold Justice are going to join forces.
Fans rave about Dick Wolf‘s scripted crossovers, but now the uber-producer is unveiling a crossover event for two of his unscripted series.
NBC‘s sister network Oxygen, which airs several of Wolf’s true crime shows, revealed that Criminal Confessions and long-running fan favorite Cold Justice will come together during the Criminal Confessions season finale on Saturday, March 7.
The episode will be titled “Cold Justice Confessions,” because it examines a case where Florida detectives worked with the Cold Justice investigators.
During the course of revisiting the 1981 case, the cops work to get a confession out of their prime suspect—which then makes it perfect material for Criminal Confessions, as the show is focused on stories that end in a confession.

While watching Dick Wolf’s crossovers between the One Chicago dramas has become a yearly occasion, we haven’t ever seen his true crime projects combine like this.

Even if you’re not a regular viewer of either show, this is going to be worth watching just to see what it’s like when two of his reality series are put together. It has the potential to be as interesting as any One Chicago crossover.
This also opens the door to all kinds of interesting ideas regarding Oxygen. The network has three Dick Wolf shows going at the moment: Cold Justice, Criminal Confessions and Murder For Hire. All have been decent performers for the network, but they’re not as high-profile as the shows he has on the broadcast networks.
This crossover isn’t planned, of course, but if it does well in the ratings then the network could try other ideas, like airing the shows together in some kind of themed block (similar to what NBC does with One Chicago) or finding other opportunities to cross-promote.
It wouldn’t take a lot of effort to build an unscripted block for the Wolf shows as prominent as the ones he has for his scripted dramas. And since Oxygen is a sister network to NBC, if they wanted to go one step further, they could try to advertise these shows to the massive audiences who see the Chicago episodes every Wednesday.
Just make sure you set your DVR now, as Oxygen originals air much earlier in the evening, and you won’t want to miss this event.
Criminal Confessions airs Sundays at 6 p.m. ET/PT on Oxygen.
