A fire and a big surprise

Roman and Severide head to a questionable location in order to ask another drug dealer where Logan is. Unfortunately, the name that Roman dropped to get in the door happens to be that of a guy who’s since died…so Roman gets a gun pointed at his head. Eventually, after a bad Justin Timberlake joke, Roman and Severide get the upper hand and that Logan hangs around with the Southside Hustlers. Severide insists that they call for help. “I’ll call it in after I get a chance to talk to the guy,” Roman says, but Severide doesn’t believe him.

So after Foster consoles Brett about not meeting her birth mother, the next day, Intelligence is getting the 411 from Severide. Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) is particularly surprised to hear that her ex-partner, and ex-boyfriend, is back in town. Voight, Burgess and Ruzek go to Firehouse 51 after they aren’t able to find Roman, and Boden asks why Roman didn’t go to Intelligence in the first place. Burgess suggests it could be because of her, revealing that she and Roman “haven’t spoken in a while…we fell out of touch.”

Ruzek tells Burgess not to blame herself, and Chicago Fire has him state the obvious: Roman could blow their entire case if he does something reckless. Voight, however, isn’t as upset and just tells them to keep things quiet for now.

You know who’s not quiet? Capp (Randy Flagler), who yells for Brett when she has a visitor at the Firehouse. Since we only see the woman from the back, it’s not hard to guess that Chicago Fire is about to reveal Brett’s mom. She apologizes for the earlier mix-up, blaming it on the man, who is her husband and didn’t know she had a daughter. She also reveals that she’s pregnant again at 46; Sylvie is about to have a half-sibling. Mom desperately wants Brett back in the family, but Brett doesn’t have time to process this as the alarms go off again.

As our heroes are investigating a basement fire, shots ring out—and Roman emerges from said basement. What the hell, Roman?! Find out what happens next by clicking the banner below for our Chicago PD recap.
