What’s happening in this week’s Chicago Fire? Find out about Tendency of a Drowning Victim with the Chicago Fire season 8, episode 16 synopsis and teaser.

The next Chicago Fire will include at least one life-threatening rescue, according to NBC‘s official description of the episode and the promo that they’ve released for it.

Wednesday’s installment has the lengthy title “The Tendency of a Drowning Victim,” and since we know that every Fire episode title is taken from a line of dialogue within the episode, that tells you there’s a drowning that’s going to happen. That means it’s Firehouse 51 to the rescue, and how will they save the person from what appears to be bone-chillingly cold waters without any of the team falling in themselves?

In other news, the episode also includes the return of Sylvie Brett’s (Kara Killmer) birth mother, who has more information to tell Sylvie. Considering that the last thing she said was that she’s pregnant with Brett’s half-sibling, what else could she possibly reveal? Are she and her husband, who Brett already encountered, getting a divorce? Is she dying from something?

Hopefully not, but it’s hard to think of what else she could possibly surprise her daughter—and the viewers—with. Showing up at Firehouse 51 unannounced, and then revealing her pregnancy, was already a pretty big deal. But at least the subplot for Chief Wallace Boden (Eamonn Walker) sounds hilarious.

Here’s how NBC officially describes the episode:

"Boden is on edge after starting a new fad diet. Casey and Severide disagree on a call. Brett’s birth mother shares life-altering news. A familiar face has a proposition for Herrmann."
