Finding Gary

Outside one of the doctors asks Casey about Gallo, which reveals that he’s kept tabs on Lucy, the comatose burn victim from earlier this season. Gallo probably isn’t thinking about her now, though, because he and Ritter are still fretting over the dietary needs of Firehouse 51.

Just after Herrmann’s wife tells him that the family can’t afford to invest in Lily’s business, Chicago Fire‘s next rescue call takes place in the back of a restaurant, where the boss is trapped and it’s a bloody mess. He’s eventually extricated, and the pizza joint gives 51 a ton of free pizza. This isn’t good news for Stella, since she is still on Boden’s diet, but she runs into the chief’s office to find out that he’s already cheated on said diet. And he’s also encouraging her to.

In the final minutes of this Chicago Fire episode, Casey asks Severide if they’re good, wondering if he’s avoiding Stella or if he’s avoiding both of them. Do they need to talk? Kelly doesn’t think so, about that anyway. He asks what happened to Gary; Casey informs him that Gary, if that is his real name, is still at large. Severide says that it would be easy to rig up the car to drive it into the lake remotely. Well, Gary did claim to be an engineer.

So Casey and Lisa find Gary and confront him. Casey’s ready to call Jay Halstead—hey, two Jay references in one night—if Gary doesn’t give the money he stole from Lisa back. Which he will, because he’s got a family that’s clueless about his side job.

And Herrmann has to break the bad news to Lily. But she doesn’t care; she never wanted his money. She just wants his support and advice. “From the way Brian talked, I know I’ll never find a better mentor,” she tells him. Herrmann assures her that she’ll always have his support and will always be part of the Firehouse 51 family.

Across the bar Julie tells Brett that she plans to move to Chicago permanently. Her husband has always wanted to come to the city, and now finding Brett convinced her it was a good idea too. Sylvie is happy to have her birth mother staying in town, while Casey explains to Severide what happened to Gary and joins his roommates for a well-deserved meal.
