What’s happening in this week’s Chicago Fire episode? Get an early look at “I’ll Cover You” with the Chicago Fire season 8, episode 18 synopsis and teaser.
The next all-new episode of Chicago Fire sends one of their own to their old stomping grounds, while the rest of Firehouse 51 handles interpersonal relations.
From the looks of the episode synopsis and promo NBC has released, it looks like Lieutenant Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) is the one who is plucked from 51 and sent back to OFI…and back to Lieutenant Wendy Seager (recurring guest star Andy Allo).
It’s also fair to mention that just last week in “Protect a Child,” his girlfriend Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) recruited Wendy for her inner-schools program, Girls on Fire. Hopefully, she’ll be alright with her boyfriend teaming up with the woman who used to carry a torch for him.
The episode trailer shows that a young man’s suspected drowning was what led to Severide getting paired with Seager, as OFI announced that the victim was dead before the fire started. Enter: Kelly who will be putting on his detective hat once again, which of course leads him back to the office of fire investigation.
It looks like he and Wendy roll up to an abandoned building, or what used to be one anyhow. You hear Seager tap his shoulder and say, “Severide,” like she’s spotted something important, so they go take a look.
While he’s poking around, the next few seconds show a mystery man come up behind them. Kelly gets into a scuffle with the man, but of course, Chicago Fire doesn’t show fans the results.
If you base your prediction strictly off the promotion’s tagline: “What they discover could put Severide in jeopardy,” then you have a right to be worried about the fan-favorite character. Of course, it’s not exactly the first off-duty fight he’s been in.
How can we forget the insane face-off between Kelly and Stella’s menacing ex, Grant, back in season 5? He almost ended up killing the guy (accidentally of course) defending Stella’s honor! Kind of crazy, right?
Hopefully, we won’t have to worry about Kelly unintentionally committing a felony while protecting him and Wendy against this armed offender.
Here’s how NBC officially describes the episode:
"Severide teams up with Seager and the OFI when a motel structure fire turns suspicious; Firehouse 51 members become amateur sleuths following a Reddit post involving one of their own; Brett continues to get invested in her birth mother, Julie."
