Hightown, starring Chicago Fire’s Monica Raymund, gets premiere date
Hightown, the Starz series led by Chicago Fire alum Monica Raymund, now has a premiere date. Find out when Hightown season 1 premieres and watch a teaser.
When Chicago Fire heads toward the end of its season, Monica Raymund‘s new series Hightown will be just beginning.
Starz announced Wednesday that the Hightown series premiere will take place on Sunday, May 17 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT. (As Starz is a premium cable channel, One Chicago fans who want to watch will have to pay for a separate subscription to see it.)
Hightown has been in development since 2018, with Raymund—who played Gabriela Dawson in six seasons of Chicago Fire and has reappeared twice since then—being announced as the star in September 2018.
Her character Jackie Quinones is a reckless, hard-living officer of the National Marine Fisheries Service who discovers the body of a drug addict that washes up in Cape Cod. Determined to find the killer herself, Jackie comes into conflict with narcotics cop Ray Abruzzo (James Badge Dale of 24 fame).
But the further their murder-slash-drug investigation gets, the more both of their personal lives are thrown into disarray because of it.
Since the show is on a premium channel (with less content restrictions than cable), and is built around the opioid crisis, plus Jackie is described as “hard-partying,” this will be vastly different from Monica Raymund playing Gabriela Dawson. It’s a fair bet to say there will be at least some drug use and sex in Hightown.

The date announcement definitely works in favor of Chicago Fire viewers. The Fire season usually ends in May, and given current events, seems likely to conclude even earlier than that. That means that just as fans will be looking for something to watch, they’ll be able to dive right into Monica Raymund’s next project.
It’s not known how many Hightown episodes have been filmed, but the show started filming back in June 2019, so it’s been going for almost a year. You can check out the first Hightown clip below, courtesy of TVLine:
